I have a couple of sites and they both just stopped being able to do postage. We can’t get estimates in the shopping cart, and we can’t make postage.

    In looking at the logs:

<Error><Number>80040B1A</Number><Description>Authorization failure. You are not authorized to connect to this server.</Description><Source>USPSCOM::DoAuth</Source></Error> (calculate_shipping)

I can’t even remember where I put the USPS api information in the config it’s been so long and there’s been so many versions since I did it. Can anyone help?

  • Just fixed this issue for a client. The plugin was giving that “Authorization failed” message. Just estimating based on order history it looks like the problem started sometime yesterday 2021-10-17.

Fixed it by replacing the default username at wp-admin > WooCommerce > Shipping > USPS with a new one created at https://www.usps.com/business/web-tools-apis/ . It looks like the default credentials that come with the plugin went invalid sometime in the last 48 hours.

I am having the same issue but I do not have a default username on that page. Was it in the code?

Using the WooCommerce Shipping & Tax plugin doesn’t have the setting for the API credentials there anymore.

@wilhelmcodswerth is talking about different plugin WooCommerce Shipping & Tax plugin doesn’t have API credentials filed

Same here. When will woocommerce shipping be fixed? We can’t accept any orders. Should I try reverting to the last version before it updated? I don’t know anything about api.

    Hi @chuklz,

Thank you for sharing the Github thread where the issue was raised.

This forum is specifically for core WooCommerce questions and issues. While WooCommerce Shipping & Tax is an extension and developers will provide feedback shortly on the woocommerce-services Github repo.

So I will close this thread now and all WooCommerce Shipping & Tax users having the same issue landing on this post may add their comments on Github directly, and doing so developers will have a good idea of the size and impact of the problem for a prompt resolution.

    Thanks.

Evidently, this is legacy support. Originally this plug-in included rate retrieval but no longer does. Support recommended buying USPS plugin for $79 to resolve this, or wait for USPS to fix the id situation that this plug in uses for those of us that missed that change.
