• Aloha Friends at WooCommerce

    I recently upgraded my WordPress site to Apache 4, PHP 7.0.16, and MySQL 5.6.35, and then upgraded all the plugins, on 2-23-17. We had some issues at first; the admin at my hosting service got the memory allotment incorrect, then when that was corrected we found that between the new Apache, PHP, and MySQL versions they were overloading my VPS server, so I got a second core and 1 additional GB memory allotted to the account, for 2 cores and 2gb total; we get upwards of 1,000 visitors a day. That seemed to have solved those problems.

    However, although we normally get 1-2 sales a day, I have not gotten a single sale since the upgrades. As I was wondering why, I tried a mock purchase on my site, and found that my Cart was completely blank. Although it has the normal site background, menus, and logo, it’s missing the page footer and the sidebar. The WooCommerce products pages all appear correct, and when you hit “Add To Cart” the page regenerates and give you a “View Cart” button at the top, like always; but when you hit View Cart you get taken to the blank page that I just described.

    So, now I’m going to fix it, right? I pull up my Plugins page, hit WooCommerce/Settings and ALSO got a blank page. And I mean completely blank this time; no menus, no background, no nothing; white page city. Can’t mess with settings. Tried all kinds of combinations of deactivating WooCommerce and all the WooCommerce addons and reactivating them; no luck there.

    I include my WP configuration from the WooCommerce/System Status menu below. What’s happening? I’m completely baffled. Whatever you can do to help is completely appreciated; my ability to generate income just disappeared off my website. Aloha, Tim……..

  • I see you have deactivated plugins. Did you also switch to say the Storefront theme to be able to rule out a theme issue.

    If you still have the problem, consider deactivating Cloudflare in case its caching something it shouldn’t.

    The approach is to keep peeling back the site to its simplist until it works, then put things back one-by-one to see whats causing the break.

    Put these two lines in wp-config.php. If they are there already, change false to true. This may expose any errors.

    define('WP_DEBUG', true);
    define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', true);

    Try to access the cart page thus causing an error, then look at the log at wp-content/debug.log

    Consider hiring someone who might be able to debug better with full access.

    In the meantime, maybe put up a site-wide banner advising customers to ring in with their orders.

    Should have known it was a plugin conflict.

    Rather than peel back all the plugins, I started by peeling back all the Woo “helper” plugins and leaving WooCommerce on. Worked fine. Added PayPal For WooCommerce, Infused Woo (integrates Woocommerce with Infusionsoft), WooCommerce Product Add-Ons, and everything still worked fine.

    I activated USPS WooCommerce Shipping, by WooForce (now https://www.xadapter.com/), and the Woo Settings page and Cart pages disappeared again. So I’m contacting them now to see if they’ve got anything. Their plugin solves a problem for us, but not if it breaks the site’s cart.

    Thanks for the quick response!
