Are there actually any fans of an E-commerce platform? Well, yes, I am a fan of WooCommerce. I love it and I built several ecommerce stores using WooCommerce both for me and for my clients.
However there are many small business owners that aren’t tech-savvy enough to buy hosting, buy a domain, set up all the required plugins and themes to build an e-commerce.
Those business owners instead of hiring a developer, they just go to shopify and build their store with no experience in a matter of hours. They don’t actually need the great customizability of WooCommerce, they need something that just works.
And on top of that, Elementor is now offering cloud hosting included with their packages.
What I’m wondering is if WooCommerce can follow this route as well, especially since Automattic is already offering hosting for WordPress.
WooCommerce should of course remain open source and free, available for all the developers and those who know how to properly build an e-commerce store. But should also come as a SaS, with a monthly subscription that includes hosting, domain name and all the installations required, just like Shopify does, and maybe a discount on all the official Woocommerce plugin.
And also maybe a WooCommerce+ subscription for all the larger companies that may require more scalability and support, and super optimized for scaling.
I’m absolutely open to discussion about this idea!

WooCommerce has a great collection of plugins to help users to achieve multiple functionalities in their stores.
