WooCommerce – Restrict Shipping Methods Per Item

I would like to restrict or modify shipping methods on a per-item (preferably) or per-category basis – is there a way to do this with WooCommerce?

We have many items produced locally but some are produced out of state. Since we offer local pickup, those items produced out of state would be sold at a huge loss if the customer selected local pickup (Free), since we would still incur cost for shipping to our pickup location. Not sure of the best way to address this from a marketing standpoint, but from a collection standpoint I could fix it if I do not offer local pickup for those items. I found a paid WooThemes plugin that lets me disallow local pickup, and that would probably work, but it has a lot of other features I don’t need — I’m wondering if there are other options or if anyone has solved this another way.
