Hi,

We are receiving strange problem in our WordPress WooCommerce website. Our website works normal and taking orders. But when we put flash sales in our website we are facing duplicate order issue. The customers are happened to pay twice sometimes thrice for a same order. we receive multiple payments for same order and different order ID’s. When we check in the forum some suggested to increase the WordPress memory limit and update all plugins. We set it to 512 MB and updated all plugins. Though we are facing this issue. our customers are fear to order in our website due to this problem. I’m attaching screenshots and system status for reference. Thank you!

Do you mind clarifying what you mean by flash sale?
Are you setting sale prices on products via the default WooCommerce interface or are you using any plugins/custom code for that?

When the issue happens, does it happen to all orders?

I see you have a few different payment gateways, does this issue happen with all payment gateways and methods or only one/some?

Please share the Fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs. Then you can use the selector to search for Fatal Errors.

Thank you for your reply. We did not use any plugins for flash sale. We just reduce the regular price in the week ends. So it will get attention to the customers. yes.. when we put sale, customers access website more than regular, we are facing this issue. you can see it in the second screenshot. on August 30th we received multiple duplicate orders. we use different gateways like paypal and stripe. But that is not the issue it seems (for ref: screenshot). both the payments from different gateways.

To confirm, you do not use the Sale Price option, you just reduce the regular price, correct?

And does this happen in every order?

Can you please create a staging site to run some tests?

You can ask your host if they offer this service, or you can use WP Staging for quickly spinning up a new test site.

On the staging site, please run some test orders to see if you are able to replicate the issue there.

If you are, then please run a conflict test. You can use the Cash On Delivery option to run test orders. This is a default WooCommerce payment method, so you will be able to use it during the conflict test.

To test, you’ll first want to change the theme on your site to Storefront, then check to see if the issue is still present. If that resolves the issue, you’ll want to get in touch with your theme’s developer and see if they have an update or fix for you.

If changing the theme doesn’t help, you’ll want to deactivate all plugins except for WooCommerce and take a look. If that fixes the problem, re-enable the other plugins one by one (gradually), checking after each, to see where the issue is coming from.

Thank you for the additional details. This makes sense. Testing this one without a real stress test in high traffic scenarios is going to be difficult. I undersatnd this is happening for some orders, not all, and it happens irregardless of which payment gateway you’re using.

Can you check on your cache settings to make sure you’re excluding the cart, checkout and my account pages from it? Hi Omarfpg,

Thank you for your response. We are using WP Rocket plugin for page caching. It has default function that it will not caching pages like check out, cart and my account pages. And our website is not associate with cloud fare.
