Hello. I have a set of products in WooCommerce; these are workshops with 2 or 3 attributes, one of them being “Dates” which has options like 19-23 August. When someone buys a workshop I want to show “Your upcoming workshop” with the details in the User page. How can I achieve that with a product (rather than an event)? Many thanks!

  • Hey there, @maxstub! Thanks for contacting us. I’m happy to help you.

If you want to set this up as a regular product, you can use the attributes to create variations.

This way you would have one variation for each date and the name of the variation could have the date on it.

You can learn more about variations here.

I want to show “Your upcoming workshop” with the details in the User page

Do you mind specifying exactly which page you mean by user page?

Do you mean their My Account page on your website?
Such as yourwebsite.com/my-account/ or maybe yourwebsite.com/my-account/orders/?

Or do you want it to show on the thank you page right after they purchase it?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

Hi @carolm29 thanks a lot for the reply.

The products are already using attributes and variations. My question is more to do with the date of the workshop.

For example, one of the workshops is “Writing Skills” and there are 3 different skill levels (beginner, intermediate and advanced) and 3 available sets of dates (2-5 September, 9-12 September and 16-19 September). Both, skill level and dates are product attributes and we have 9 product variations.

If you book advanced level for the 2-5 September, I would like to show, in your “my-account/orders/”, “Your upcoming workshop is in 14 days: Writing Skills Advanced 2-5 September …”

But because the workshop date is text that you select from a drop-down and not a calendar date you pick, I can’t see how I attach a chronological date to that variation you selected so that I can calculate and show how many days until the workshop.

    Does that make sense?

    Hey, @maxstub!

Thank you for the explanation, it does make sense.

However, it is not possible to achieve this by default with the core WooComemerce plugin.

You will need custom code for that.

While we can’t provide support for code customization as per our support policy, we do our best to offer advice and direct you to appropriate resources.

You can visit the WooCommerce Facebook group or the #developers channel of the WooCommerce Community Slack. We’re lucky to have a great community of open-source developers for WooCommerce, and many of our developers hang out there too.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help or if you have any questions.

    Have a wonderful day!
