WooCommerce Product Category Nesting Associations
-
Hello,
I have a WooCommerce store with a large catalog (20K+ products; 500+ product categories) with a lot of sub-categories nested 2-5 levels deep. Having an issue with Products showing the correct child category association on the Edit Product admin page, but the associations seem to get lost within the Product Archives tree.i.e. SKU 8614-143-19 has the lowest level child category (Aluminum) checked on the edit product page and I see it in the product breadcrumb when viewing the product. The full category tree is Propellers –> Solas –> Volvo –> Fixed Hub –> SX-OMC –> Aluminium
When I view the product archive for “Aluminum” (lowest level child in the tree), I see the SKU and other SKUs associated BUT if I go up a level and look at the product archive for “SX-OMC” it doesn’t display any of the products OR the ‘Aluminum’ sub-category it is the parent of; essentially breaking the ability for a customer to drilldown to the product.
I created an index tree of all product categories to follow the hierarchy (https://boatbuildersupply.com/categories-list/) and it doesn’t appear like the product association rollup up sub-category family is maintained for some reason. I am using the product import/export plugin to do some bulk updates so not sure if that would have messed any associations up, but found it confusing that it seems to be properly setting the category at the product level itself.
