    Hi,

I thought I might want to change my password (of my WordPress website) BUT I thought I would do that by means of “Lost Password” link on my log in page. (mywebsite.com/wp-admin)
No can do! It seems that when I click on the “Lost Password” link, I get the error message 404 which then tells me that there is nothing at the “lost password” web page.

    What I’ve tried?
I tried to rename Plugin folder and lost-password link started working. Then I tried to rename all the plugins one by one and I found “WooCommerce Plugin” is the cause of 404 error of loat-password page.

Please can you help me with this issue because this plugin is important in my website.

  • Hi @khushbru,

By default, WooCommerce will use a different URL for the lost password feature in WordPress. You can find what is set to by going to WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced and looking down to the “Account Endpoints” section. There is a spot here where you can set what URL will be used for the reset password screen.

    reset password

Typically that makes the reset password screen available at something like this: /my-account/lost-password/.

Check and see that there is a page set to be the account page and that the reset password endpoint is set. Then try visiting that endpoint and you should be able to reset your password.

If you have trouble, could you please send me a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it here.

    Cheers

Thank you for your response @3sonsdevelopment.

But I’m not talking about /my-account/lost-password/.

When I go to wordpress login page mywebsite.com/wp-admin and click on “forgot password?” I’m having 404 error on mywebsite.com/lost-password page because of Woo-commerce plugin.

Please can you guide me for this?

@3sonsdevelopment I removed “lost-password” from that field and mywebsite.com/lost-password started working. Does it affect any other functionality?

    Hey @khushbru,

WooCommece overrides the default lost password functionality in WordPress. The idea behind that is most stores would like customers to do everything on the front end of their site and not via the wp-admin side of things.

I tried removing that endpoint on my test site and it appears to restore the default functionality of WordPress. If that works best for you, you’re welcome to keep it that way.

Let me know if you have any questions.
