WooCommerce plug-in disables WP admin access (and other things)
-
I installed the WooCommerce plug-in for my business site and here are a few things that happened:
1) It crashed 90% of the site
2) Made it impossible to log into the admin part of the site (white screen of death after entering credentials on WP login page)
3) Changed WP login pwd on my server (how was this even possible??)
4) Changed website features (like removing contact forms, changed spacing, removed padding)Because of how it crippled admin access, I couldn’t remove it from the WP admin portal, so I had to go into cPanel, disable all plug-ins exposing the broken site which was behind a maintenance wall to the public to discover that behind the white screen of death, WP was throwing up log-in credential errors. Changed the pwd on the server, got control of my site again, removed the disabled WooCommerce disaster and as soon as it was gone, all messed up site design reverted back to normal. 100% WooCommerce plug-in. All problems happened instantly after activating.
So now here is the real question. How does a new business (starting with WP 5.9.1. & the most up-to-date version of the Neve theme) get WooCommerce compatibility? If this plug-in is only compatible up to WP 5.8.3., isn’t reverting back to WP 5.8.3. to make this plug-in work kind of a security issue? Not to mention it will break functionality with my other plug-ins (Co-blocks and Maintenance Mode & Coming Soon) and theme which are running on being compatible with WP 5.9.1… So what’s the solution?
