Our site is set to German(formal) but WooCommerce Payments does not show all texts in german. I also tried to copy the standard german translation with Loco Translate, so that there is a dedicated German(formal) translation for Payments.
In the .pot file almost everything is translated, but it does not populate to the page.

E.g. in the checkout it still shows “Credit card / debit card” –?but this is translated to “Kreditkarte / Debitkarte” in your .pot file

What is the problem here?

Thanks for reaching out!

It sounds like you’ve already confirmed that that language file has a translation in place for that string, but it’s simply not being applied.

Could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.? Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

Can you also share a screenshot with us to confirm the exact location of the string on the front end?

It’s weird that some text is translated to german (e.g. “Kartennummer”) but some is not.

Hi @johannesyeahs,

Your System Status report shows that WordPress core and Astra theme are not up to date. Make a full backup of your site and database first and then go on with the updates. If nothing changes, try to change those strings with Loco Translate which is already installed on your site.

The steps are as follows:
?
1. Go to Loco Translate > Plugins
2. Select the plugin that you need to change the phrasing for (WooCommerce Payments).
3. Click on New Language, then select your current language (ex: German).
4. Choose `Custom” for the “Choose a location” option.
5. Search for the strings you want to edit (“Credit card / debit card” and “Save payment information to my account for future purchases.”), then add your new “translation” and save.
