Thanks for sharing your system status report.

Yes I could see that you’re using Siteground optimizer plugin for caching.

My site has been running slow and I realised it isn’t caching. I turned off all plugins and reactivated them one by one and I learned that the website stops caching only when WooCommerce Payments is activated.

First of all, I would disagree with you that WooCommerce Payments could slow down your website and interrupt with the site caching.

As far as I am aware, WooCommerce Payments is only loading on the checkout page so it should really affect your site overall performance.

I use SG Optimizer to manage caching and have contacted SiteGround who requested that I ask WooCommerce Payments if they can investigate what exactly is blocking this function so that it can be resolved by either you or them.

I would really like to continue using both of these plugins so any help would be greatly appreciated.

My suggestion, you want to make sure that the use caching follows our recommendation here: https://woocommerce.com/document/configuring-caching-plugins/

Where you need to configure the caching plugin to not cache WooCommerce pages such as Cart and Checkout pages to avoid issues like customer data being cached and used by a different customer that are visiting your website.

Here’s an example of caching on checkout arising some problem.

Sorry, I’m not the most techy person so I’ll try to explain more clearly but please let me know if I’m still not making sense.

My website was loading slowly and when I ran checks I received a ‘reduce initial server response time’ message.

I tried checking the caching status on my homepage and a few random posts and pages on SG Optimizer and it showed that the pages were not caching. I turned off all of my plugins and ran the test again and all pages were now caching.

I turned on all of my plugins one by one and reran the test each time and the only time the pages were not caching was when WooCommerce Payments was active and this is true of all pages and posts on my site on which I have run the test.

I contacted SiteGround support first because I don’t want to delete WooCommerce Payments if possible and they asked me to contact you to see if you can find out exactly what is going on so they can use this information to solve the problem.

‘Blocking this function’ are the words SiteGround support used in our conversation and I am assuming they mean blocking the cache function.

I have excluded the cart, checkout and account pages on SG Optimizer and the problem is still persisting, on all pages of my website.

I’ve checked the post you sent and it does’t have specific information about SG Optimizer, but I’ve excluded those pages which is the main point I think. Was there anything else I am missing?

Thanks for the additional context here!

Do you have any additional layers of caching or load-balancing active on your site, such as routing through Cloudflare? Also, could you confirm whether you’re using any of the code/script minification features of SG Optimizer?

As mentioned in the guide shared by @solstudioim, JavaScript minification isn’t recommended, so I’d like to know if that’s active. If it is, try turning it off, as it could be altering how WooCommerce Payments behaves.

I do use Cloudflare and have Cloudflare Full Page Caching enabled through SG Optimizer. Should I try turning this off?

I did have JavaScript minification active but I have turned this off now and it hasn’t made a difference.

Is there something else I should try?

Hi @sillyfishlearning – we have seen a few other issues caused by the SG Optimizer. Can you try disabling that and reporting back to us?
