Woocommerce payment.php file

i have made changes to my WooCommerce payment.php file and these changes can get overwritten with an update.

Is there anyway to protect this file by placing it in a Child-Theme.

The file currently resides in plugins/woocommerce/templates/checkout and is not inside of a specific theme but in the plugins directory.

The guy that coded this is no longer available to me and I really would not like to lose this modification.
