WooCommerce Order Export showing PAY-TO email address

    Hello WP Community, I am helping with a Woocommerce site that uses the older Paypal Standard method of payment. I realize that they are using Paypal Payments now, but that’s for a later discussion. One of our plugins was compromised which allowed hackers to change the pay-to email address on the back end.

    I know that some orders went through to the hacker’s paypal account after spot-checking, but I’m not sure how far back this was compromised. When I use any of the built-in reports, or 3rd party reports, none of them show the paypal email that payment was sent to. Is there anything I can do to find this out? Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for reaching out.

     I understand your concern regarding the compromised plugin and the subsequent changes in the PayPal pay-to email address.

    The WooCommerce core plugin does not store the PayPal email address that payments are sent to within its system. This information is handled and stored by PayPal directly.

    In this case, I would recommend reaching out to PayPal’s support team. They may be able to assist you in identifying the transactions that went to the hacker’s account based on the transaction IDs or other relevant information.
