• Hi,
Im trying to help my wife set up an online store using the WooCommerce plugin. She is an artist so has a relatively small product range.
We are very new to woocommerce. I have limited coding knowledge (if needed) eg have dabbled in html before.
    I’ve a few questions I’m afraid…

    Issue: Shipping options.
My wife would like to charge a flat rate shipping rate for each product for either the UK or Rest of the World. I tried setting up shipping classes (eg Cards – UK, Cards – Rest of the World) thinking that that might provide options but now read that each product can only be tagged to one shipping class.
    1) Is there a way to do this without buying another plug in? If we must get a plugin what should we get?

Shipping rates for her large art pieces (only) will vary hugely so we want to allow purchases from the UK only not the rest of the world (customers will need to contact her directly).
    2) Is there a way to block Res of the World for just one product? Again do we need a plugin? If so which one?

We did manage to tag a card product to a shipping class and set the rate. However, when the customer clicks on show shipping rate it shows two option – free shipping and the fixed rate we want.
    3) What are we doing wrong here?

  • All that you said should be achievable using WooCommerce default flat rate shipping setup. Did you check this? https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/flat-rate-shipping/

    Hi Samuel,
That was very useful – thanks. I managed to figure out the answer to question 1 and 3. But I still have an issue with question 2 that I can’t solve.

My wife has 5 different categories of product for sale. 4 are available for sale in the UK and overseas with a flat rate shipping fee. The fifth, we want only available for purchase in the UK (Its large and fragile so shipping costs vary a lot – we want clients to contact her directly for this kind of purchase so we can get a quote from a shipping company).

I can’t figure out how to set it so a purchaser in the UK can proceed but a purchaser in the UK can’t. Any ideas? Many thanks!

    Hi Anyone,
Any advice on the above. I’ve figured out how to restrict sales to one country but any ideas on how I can restrict to just one country for just one category of product ( I only know very basic coding).
    Thanks!

    Hi Alun,

To exclude some products from direct purchase and instead letting users to make an enquire you will need to use this paid plugin – https://woocommerce.com/products/request-a-quote-plugin-for-woocommerce/
