Hi, I am looking for help with woocommerce nav menu customisation. Thanks in advance.

Putting together a demo to test what we could offer using Woo. There are three test items on this page to go through to Product > Cart > Checkout pages.

    1. I cannot edit the nav menu used on these pages. It is not in my nav menu list in wp dashboard. As it has a shopping cart button, I guess Woo added the menu. I have tried different nav menu plugins and deleting/creating new nav menus but don’t have the shop pages in:
dashboard > appearance > menus > menu settings > display locations
..and can’t find the menu with the shopping cart button anyway.

Can you see how I could add:
ECommerce page, Account page, Checkout page buttons
..to the nav menu on these pages?
(note I don’t want to have the shopping nav menu across every page on website, just these and Account page)

    2. The mini cart dropdown menu in nav bar contains a button link to Checkout but the link is always to the page it is currently on, not checkout.

Can you see how I can get this Checkout button to always point to Checkout page?

This is for interest really, if I can fix question 1, I will just hide this button.

In case important, I used Woolentor to add items to first/ECommerce page. I created all other pages (except Product page) and linked them in:
    woocommmerce > advanced settings
Using Snowlake theme without Elementor Pro.

    Bw,
    Ben

  • Hi @benorange

    Thanks for reaching out.

I cannot edit the nav menu used on these pages

In a basic WooCommerce setup you should be able to edit the navigation menu by going to WP-Admin → Appearance → Menu

I came across this guide that can help you customize your menu on Elementor: https://zemez.io/support/wordpress/how-to/how-to-add-custom-menu-using-custom-menu-module-for-elementor/

The mini cart dropdown menu in nav bar contains a button link to Checkout but the link is always to the page it is currently on, not checkout

On your site I could not find the mini cart button in the nav bar. If you could share a screenshot, that would be helpful. We recommend https://snipboard.io for easily sharing screenshots – please follow the instructions on that page, then paste the URL in this thread.

However, Elementor is a third-party plugin, which limits us from being able to provide support for it. We recommend reaching out to the plugin developer directly at https://elementor.com/support/ since they’d be more familiar with how it works than we would be.

Moreover, kindly be informed that support for customization is beyond the scope of support we are able to provide in this forum. This particular forum is for questions that are related to the WooCommerce core features.

Nevertheless, I’m going to leave this thread open for a bit to see if anyone is able to chime in to help you out here.

    Cheers

    Hi @margaretwporg,

Thanks, no luck yet but will keep going through your recommendations.

To see the mini cart in its nav menu, select one of the 3 products on this page.

    Hello,

Thanks, no luck yet but will keep going through your recommendations.

Just to add, you may also want to check with the theme author about how to add side bar widgets to WooCommerce related pages.

I’d try installing another theme that has a mini cart feature to see if the same issue appears. If it doesn’t, then that means the issue is theme specific – in which case, you’ll need to contact the theme author to report the issue.

If the mini cart’s Checkout button still doesn’t work with a different theme, there is likely a conflict issue with another plugin. You can find a detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/

    Hi @maykato,

Thanks, agreed. I contacted the theme author yesterday and waiting to hear back.

Will test with another theme as a next step. Will follow up.

Sure! Let us know how it goes.

    Hi @margaretwporg,

Battled for a while but now sure the issue started with old theme templates for woocommerce. Snowlake author never replied and files say last update in 2020. Deleted demo site in cpanel and starting over. Going with Generatepress.

    Learnt a lot, so thanks.

I’m glad that you could identify the origin of the issue. Thanks for sharing it here.

That sounds like a good plan. If you run into any trouble let us know, we’d be happy to help out.
