    Howdy!

    I’m sorry for the trouble that your client had signing up for a WordPress.com/WooCommerce.com account, that does sound frustrating!

    While it is true that a WordPress.com account is also needed now (to share one account across all of Automattic’s products), we do not force or mislead anyone in the signup process to purchase things they don’t need.

    What looks like happened is that your client got confused between the difference of WordPress.com, and www.remarpro.com, and signed up for a domain and business plan, when only the free WordPress.com account is needed.

    If you could login to the WordPress.com account that purchased the domain and business plan, we would be happy to provide a refund for your client. You can do that here:

    https://wordpress.com/help/contact

    We can then also help make sure you’re able to purchase the Stamps.com extension you need, which you should be able to do while still logged into the WordPress.com account by going to the product page here:

    * https://woocommerce.com/products/woocommerce-shipping-stamps/
    * https://woocommerce.com/products/stamps-com-xml-file-export/

    (not sure which of the two they need)

    There is a Buy Now option that will lead through the purchase process:

    I hope this helps!

    Thanks Zach. I have told my client to ask for a refund of the unwanted purchases. I told her to include a link to this post in her request.

    As for your “Buy Now” instructions, let me take you through the process so you can see where it fails.

    1. Let me establish that my client has a wordpress.com account: https://cheshire2019.com
    2. Here is a shot of the dashboard to prove the user name and password were correctly entered:

    3. So now to the stamps.com API extension:

    4. Stamps.com API in the cart:

    5. Prompt to connect a wordpress.com account. We chose the second option to connect https://cheshire2019.com to Woocommerce:

    6. Prompt to enter user name and password. I entered the same user name and password that successfully logged me into my client’s wordpress.com account:

    7. Woocommerce doesn’t recognize my client’s wordpress.com account:

    I stand by my earlier statement. The Woocommerce login system is BROKEN. I can also tell you that this is not the first client I have had to go through this with.

    Thanks for the detailed steps!

    Step 5 is where you’re going wrong. You’re choosing this option:

    But you do not have an existing WooCommerce.com account.

    You need to choose the I don't have a WooCommerce.com account option (you currently only have a WordPress.com account), then follow the steps there to complete the setup and payment.

    Thanks Zach, I will know for the future. I just assumed that if Woocommerce was installed, my client had an account.

    You’re most welcome!

    I just assumed that if Woocommerce was installed, my client had an account.

    A WooCommerce.com account is separate from using the WooCommerce plugin. Should you need anything else regarding this, please don’t hesitate to reach out! ??
