Hi, we are a produce market that sells all kinds of stuff online and in store via square. And managing stock/inventory in a computer system is very challenging for produce. We sell some items though that we would like to be able to track in inventory but not everything. From what I understand WC won’t let you pick and choose what to track…Inventory tracking is either on or off for WC and Square am I right?

  • Not quite sure what you want to do here, but WC can track and manage the inventory you put into it if you tell it to.

However, if you are using Square you can use it to manage your inventory as well as take payments with it from your website.

    Hey @mondueo

It sounds like you want to only enable stock management for certain products, is that correct?

WooCommerce does allow you to enable stock management on a per-product basis. “Stock Management” must be enabled for the entire site, but you can choose whether you want to monitor inventory, or just set it to “In/Out Stock” for each product. Our guide can show you how to enable that. You can also read more about this in the Square guide.

Please, be aware that inventory is always pulled from Square to WooCommerce, regardless of the Product system of record-setting.

    I hope this helps!

@arcangelini Yes, I must have been doing it wrong before or they recently changed it. Before if I had the option on, I had to do all products or no products for inventory management.
My Next question, is there a way to scan an item into square to increase stock automatically, such as scanning a bar code on a box? Maybe a 3rd party app i am not aware of?

    Thank you

Yes, you can contact Square directly. They have a whole kit or you can buy the scanner gun itself.

More info on their site here

You can create your labels as well.

    Hey @mondueo !

I am glad we were able to help you with your first stock question.

As for your next question, @serafinnyc is correct. This is something that you would need to get with Square to work out. I do know they offer barcode scanners, but I am not sure how they can be utilized for inventory management.

WooCommerce does have an option for inventory management in our marketplace – https://woocommerce.com/products/scanventory/ but if you are setting Square as your system of record then you won’t be able to use this.

    Thanks!

    Hey @mondueo

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
