    Hello everyone!

I have this performance issue that my hosting company did not manage to find, nor I for the last 2 weeks. It seems that woocommerce plugin makes the whole site load really slow. I get somewhere from 3 to 5 seconds TTFB no matter how many plugins I have installed or what theme I’m using.
This wasn’t always the case and the problem seems to be ever more evident now than it ever was.
One thing I have found really strange is in Woocommerce-> Status -> Active plugins, where Woocommerce reports over 70k plugins installed(74182 to be more precised). Almost all of them are Woocommerce.
It also takes me around 1 minute to access the Status section of Woocommerce.

I’ve searched the web looking for a similar issue, but I did not come across anything similar.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you!

    Best regards

  • Hi @thedunkmaster,

That is quite crazy. I’ve never heard of this happening before. If you open up the files on your server with FTP and go to /wp-content/plugins/ are there tens of thousands of copies of WooCommerce here?

If so something has to be duplicating these folders. You may need help from your web host to clear them all out and then install a fresh copy of WooCommerce.

You could also check in the database’s _options table for the active_plugins entry. It will list the active plugins on the site. You can check and make sure it doesn’t have an errant list of plugins. It should look something like this:

    active_plugins

Let us know what you find out.

    Cheers

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

There’s only one “woocommerce” folder in the server files.

Funny enough, I can’t find the wp_options table in the database. I’m searching the internet on how to find/recover it, but no luck so far.

    Regards,

The wp in the wp_options table is the database prefix. It’s possible it could be something else for your site. Do you see one that ends in options? If so, try looking in it and see what you find.

    Hi again!

It’s still me, I just forgot the password for the other user.
I deactivated all plugins except Woocomerce, because I just can not deactivate it. No matter how many time I press deactivate, it just refreshes and it’s active again. I wanted to delete all data of woocommerce by editing the config file with the following line: ( ‘WC_REMOVE_ALL_DATA’, true ), but since I cant deactivate/delete it….there’s no use for it.

Here’s what I found out from what you told me: I had to cut the message short because it;s really really longer than what you see here…It goes up to 74200

    Hi again,

It seems that if I continue to press Deactivate over and over and over and over again, the number of woocommerce drops. I pressed about 10 times and I got down from 74200 to 74152. I most certainly did not do this for ~50 times, but it seems its going down a few at a time.

    Regards,

    Hello again!

I managed to fix the issue by deleting all the records of woocommerce from the wp_options -> active plugins. It deactivated everything, including woocommerce.
Now it shows correctly and I managed to reactivate everything.
    Site works like normal now.

Thank you very much for giving me the ideea. Hopefully this will help somebody someday.

    Best regards,
    Chris

    Hey Chris,

Great detective work. That’s a crazy situation and one that I haven’t seen before. I’m glad you were able to find the cause and get it fixed.

    Cheers
