    Hi,

Resized my WooCommerce product images from 800px to 1600px. Installed the WP Retina 2x plugin and uploaded the images. All appropriated image sizes are Blue in the Media settings. Placed the full-size image, 1600px as “Product Image”. The full image was the only option available. In Theme Customizer>>WooCommerce the image sizes are 300px for thumb and 600px for product image. Checked the server image folder in wp-content and all the images (including 300px and 600px and Retina naming size images) are there. Tried both the Picturefill and Retina.js Methods. Bulk Deleted and Bulk Regenerated images. Cleared and refreshed browser.

Google Inspector still shows full-size 1600px image as served. Image is not being reduced to 600px. Tried FireFox and Explorer Inspectors, also 1600px. I’m using Multisite and the Divi Theme.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi,

When there is an issue, follow this tutorial:
    https://meowapps.com/wp-retina-2x-debug-issues/
    Your problem is the #6.

Your plugin for WooCommerce is actually using the full-size image (or you set up like this). There is no retina image for this currently. You either need to upload manually through FTP, modify your settings in WooCommerce (if that’s possible, I don’t know), or get the Pro version of the plugin in order to upload directly a Retina version of this file.

    Hi Jordy,
Thank you for the information. Unfortunately, after spending two days troubleshooting plugins and regenerating images with different scenarios, I see now that the WP Retina 2x does not work with the WooCommerce “Set product image” in the Edit Product UI. The only image selectable is the 1600px imagename.jpg I uploaded to create the retina images in the first place. There is no UI for selecting other sizes in the Set product image dialog. Nor can I manually enter in the URL for the imagename-800×800.jpg size which has a corresponding imagename-800×[email protected] at 1600px (both created by WP2x plugin).

Is the solution to rename the 1600px imagename.jpg in FTP as [email protected] and upload an 800px imagename.jpg? I will then need to do this for each of the 100s of products I will be importing. Not a happy thought.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks so much!

    Hi,

That’s probably where the Pro version would help. In the Pro version, you can easily upload a Retina for Full-Size through the Retina dashboard, but you will need to do so for every image you use in WooCommerce.

Alternatively, you can upload them by FTP, but you would need to make sure they in the same directory as the original image, and you will need to size them (they need to be twice bigger), though the Pro version can do this automatically.
