WooCommerce Gateway PayPal Express Checkout requires WooCommerce to be activated

Hi Theo,

Regarding the warning about WooCommerce being activated. Are you using WooCommerce 3.2.1? The PayPal Express function outputs this error if it can’t find the function WC. In the last version of WooCommerce this was changed to a lower case wc. But PHP is supposed to be case in-sensitive when it comes to function names, so this should still work. I have this running on a test site where it doesn’t seem to be causing any problems.

Do you have a specific PHP version / hosting platform where this is causing problems?

The error code 3 is not a known error. Would you be able to enable the Debug Logging in WooCommerce > Settings > Checkout > PayPal Express Checkout

And then check in WooCommerce > Status > Logs and see if the Paypal express file has any more information which could help track down the error.

Hi Mike – Running WP 4.8.2 on Clean Commerce and getting the same error with Woo PP Gateway 1.4.4. Oh, I’m on Woo 3.2.1. Really weird because everything was fine for months and now I noticed the error message and cannot ascertain what the issue is. Like Theo, obviously Woo is (and always has been activated). Seem to recall having a nightmare experience by installing JetPack (never, everrr again!!!) around that time. Rid myself of JP and I haven’t noticed any major errors expect the PP Express Checkout message.

BUT! Following your instructions to Theo above re debugging logs, there’s clearly a big problem – lots of:
CRITICAL Uncaught Error: Call to a member function get_cart() on null in /var/www/meowwoofmeow/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce-jetpack/includes/add-to-cart/class-wcj-add-to-cart-per-product-type.php:52

I can’t see what that has to do with the PayPal Gate plugin, though. Any ideas?

I couldn’t find a resolution and a cause why this has happened…I have the same issue after updating WooCommerce to version Version 3.4.6.
WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway is to the latest version as well – Version 1.6.4…
In my WordPress Admin panel I have a yellow warning – WooCommerce Gateway PayPal Checkout requires WooCommerce to be activated.
