    Greetings,

Do MailPoet Emails > WooCommerce not send while in “Test Mode” for payments? I have MailPoet running with the domain verified, sender verified and CNAME and TXT records verified for my domain, and all WooCommerce emails send fine during “Test Mode” but all of the MailPoet specific emails configured under MailPoet > Emails > WooCommerce show “Sent to 0 Customers” during “Test Mode” enabled in WooCommerce Payment settings.

    I’ve verified the following:

    • Plan: Starter – 1,000 plan.
    • Authorized Emails are all “authorized” correctly
    • Sender Domains are all “verified”
    • No Errors or even any Events exist in WP Mail Log
    • All standard WooCommerce Emails send fine
    • All MailPoet Test / Preview Emails send fine
    • No errors in the Task Scheduler under MailPoet > Help > System Status
    • I have the following 2 custom emails configured for WooCommerce Orders using MailPoet:

    • Send this WooCommerce Automatic Email when…
      First Purchase > Immediately
    • Send this WooCommerce Automatic Email when…
Purchased In This Category > All Categories Selected
    • The above emails send fine when testing them in the edit page when building them, but they don’t send during WooCommerce “Test Mode” enabled while testing orders. Do these emails just not send while WooCommerce is in “Test Mode” for payments? I cannot make the store “live” to take real orders until I verify these emails are sending successfully.

      Website Specs:

    • Host: Vultr VPS
    • OS: LiteSpeed One-Click WordPress Server on Ubuntu 20.04
    • vCPU/s: 1 | RAM:1024 MB | Storage: 32 GB NVMe
    • PHP Version: 8.0.12

Here is a link showing that these emails have been “Sent to 0 customers” even though purchases / orders / subscriptions have been tested in “Test Mode” successfully.

Like I’ve said, all emails via WooCommerce send perfectly fine, it’s just not these that send after an order is Completed for some reason. Thoughts? Is this just something that doesn’t send in “Test Mode” enabled in WooCommerce ???

Can anyone from MailPoet please look into this, or at least confirm that your plugin doesn’t send emails out while WooCommerce is in “Test Mode” for New Orders?

    Hi there @jchambo,

Thank you very much for all the details and information you’ve provided!

I can confirm that WooCommerce Payments being in “Test mode” would not affect the sending of the MailPoet WooCommerce emails. As long as the Woo Orders are changing status correctly and not getting stuck in “Pending payment” (which based on your description, they are changing to Completed status), the specific payment gateway and “Test/Live” mode does not matter.

One thing that does matter, however, is that the subscriber has confirmed their Subscription. As mentioned in our documentation here:
    https://kb.mailpoet.com/article/277-woocommerce-automatic-emails

    • WooCommerce Automatic emails created with MailPoet will be sent only to “Subscribed” users. If they’re still “Unconfirmed”, the email will be scheduled but not sent until they confirm their subscription via email (if double opt-in is enabled).

Are the email addresses you are testing with all confirmed and in “Subscribed” status?

Please let me know about that, or if you have any questions.

@kellymetal – Thanks for the reply. It doesn’t sound like MailPoet is going to be a good fit then. I’m not really taking advantage of MailPoet’s subscriber functionality, I just wanted to use the First Purchase email functionality without having to deal with “subscribers” in your actual platform.

    Hi there @jchambo,

I see! Yes, in that case it might not be the best fit. While you can also use MailPoet to send other site/transactional emails through our MailPoet Sending Service (and users wouldn’t need to be opted-in), for any of the actual MailPoet emails like the “First Purchase” one, the subscriber would need to be confirmed before they would start receiving the email.

An alternative would be the AutomateWoo extension. With AutomateWoo, you can set an email to be “Transactional” or not. For non-transactional emails, the customer would need to opt-in, however for Transactional emails they would be sent no matter what. You can read more about AutomateWoo here:
    https://woocommerce.com/products/automatewoo/

    I hope this helps!
