WooCommerce Email Trouble
-
Hi – Hope someone can spare me some time to help me. Bit of a 2 part question…
I’m running a commercial theme (Divi from ET), with WooCommerce 2.6.4 and WordPress 4.6.1.
Plugins I’ll come to in a sec – but all are up to date.
Website URL is https://www.sewprecious.co.uk and it’s a hobbyist/creative site for a friend of mine. I’m not a professional developer. I dabble…
Friend tells me she’s had comments from her customers that they aren’t getting emails from her website. I installed ‘woocommerce email test’ plugin – all appears ok. I’ve been reading and watching youtube about the settings. Some suggested an alternate email / smtp plugin. I have installed WP Email SMTP by FormGet, but I’m not too happy with having to add unnecessary complications.
I placed sample/test orders and noticed that I was getting the initial order email – but not getting any email when orders are changed from on-hold to processing, or from processing to completed. Order status changes don’t generate emails, even when I visit the order and try to resend the ones it thinks have been sent.I noticed the 2nd issue when digging around – but I think I’ve fixed that – I’m including info here in case it has a bearing on the above and I’m just not making the link. Vast majority (not all) historic orders were ON HOLD. This is a PayPal only site, and there was an IPN issue with PayPal. Site owner had a personal old (sky.com) email address for PayPal and from the outset we’ve added an address that contains her new URL for payments, purely for aethetics. The payments were getting received in PayPal ok, but orders auto placed on hold within WooCommerce. Changed (for now) to her personal old address that still works with PayPal and the IPN issue disappears. Orders go to Completed – but only the PROCESSING emails arrive.
WooCommerce status report is all good. Woocommerce>Settings>Emails all set up and ‘on hold’,’processing’,’completed’,’refunded’ emails are all set to go to customer.
I started a conversation with the site owner about showing her the WordPress/WooCommerce dashboard in order to move orders between statuses as & when her hand made products are produced & ready, but realised that this shouldn’t need to be the case. Seems to me maybe I’ve got something wrong?
I appreciate it’s a bit of a scruffy one, but I’ve read so much and reached the end of my expertise here I think. Any help appreciated. Sorry to ramble on.
thanks.
