    Hi WordPress community,

I’m working on a website for a non-profit that offers classes, and we are proposing a Woocommerce solution. The classes will be sold as products.

The organization would like to process partial payments (deposits) for their courses upfront, capture the payment info, and process the full payment at a later date.

I looked into Woocommerce Deposits, but unfortunately the plugin doesn’t capture the payment information.

Woocommerce Pre-orders looked like a great canidate; but, it doesn’t allow for a partial processing fee (deposit) upfront.

Suggestions? Any help would be great!

    Best,
    Joel

So, I just wanted to follow-up on this. I didn’t find a precise solution, but there are a few alternatives. One of those, Subscriptions, was suggested by a WooCommerce support associate, who was very friendly and helpful.

First, the most straight forward solution would be if WooCommerce was able to capture the payment via their Deposits extension. At this time, it’s in the works without an ETA. Other than that, I discovered three alternatives:

    (1) Pre-Orders: Capture the customer info and, if the customer cancels, adjust the price prior to final processing. The adjustment-processing would reflect the “non-refundable” deposit. The downside, it doesn’t charge for our “non-refundable” deposit upfront.

    (2) Subscriptions: Set-up subscriptions for two payments. The first as the deposit and the second as the final payment. The downside, customers can only purchase one product at at time.

    (3) Depostits: Charge upfront and then manually process the final payment via invpice or another request. The downside, it’s less automated and depends on the customer following-up.

    That’s it for now.

    Hi DiabloValley.Design,
I’m looking for the same thing. Did you find a solution?
I’ve been playing with WooCommerce Payment Gateway Based Fees and WooCommerce Deposits but the problem I have is, Gateway Based Fees calculates the surcharge only on total but not the subtotal of the deposit.
Hope there’s a solution out there.

Hi Nirgrantha, thanks for asking and checking in. I didn’t find a solution, unfortunately. If you do come up with something, please feel free to follow-up!
