WooCommerce Database Update long time

    Hello,

    Yesterday I upgraded WooCommerce to version 6.7.0. After WooCommerce update I got the message that the database needs to be updated. (I got this message in the backend). I updated the database. I thought it would just take a little longer. But today when I logged in, the WooCommerce was still updating the database. After that I manually “run” the “woocommerce-db-updates” tasks. But then the message came back that WooCommerce needed a database update…. . Under WooCommerce / Status / Tools -> Here I updated the database again.

    Under WooCommerce / Status / Scheduled Actions / tab: Pending i can see 39 pending tasks. And I’m not sure if the tasks are running correctly. Or how long the database update still needs.

    Can i check any other setting, task, or any thing else?

    Hi @crownst ,

    Thanks for providing the error logs.

    As a first step, I would recommend a full conflict test to rule out any theme/plugin conflicts that may be causing issues with the updating.

    The best way to determine this is to:

    – Clear site and browser cache
    – Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
    – Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    – Repeat the action that is causing the problem

    If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each until you find the one causing conflict.

    Lastly, if you have any custom code added to your site, please temporarily disable this to see if it makes any difference?

    Hi,

    thank you for you details.

    I did the following:
    – disable the theme and switch to the storefront theme
    – disable cache plugin / Delete browser cache
    – unnecessary plugins disabled

    But I think that the database update doesn’t work again because 13 tasks are waiting -> https://ibb.co/HNY2SqG

    What else I noticed. The time that you see on the right of the task does not match the time that is set. Or by the time it was done. The Berlin time zone is set in the shop. So the time displayed is different from what we actually have right now. Can this be related to the error?

    One more info. The update is tested on a staging environment. The staging environment has password protection, with user and password entry. Is it possible that the jobs are not executed because password protection is set?
    Or are the jobs only executed when a “user” calls the page?

    I read what you’ve shared so far, it might be a database or a WP Cron issue.

    Could you check if the table _wc_admin_note_actions has the column named is_primary present in it? It would look like the screenshot below:

    You can use a plugin like phpMyAdmin to browse your database.

    Also, you can install the plugin WP Crontrol and go to Tools > Cron Events to check if there are any WP Cron related issues.

    I don’t know if you addressed this, but a PHP maximum execution time of 10 seconds is too low in general. You should adjust this to 200s. https://www.webnots.com/how-to-increase-php-max-execution-time-in-wordpress/

    Yes, that could be the case. Your Action Scheduler queue is like a pipe. If there are jobs stuck it does halt the entire queue. Are these still there? If yes, hover with your mouse over them and click “Run” to execute them manually.

    Hi,

    I have now run all tasks manually again. All woocommerce tasks “woocommerce_run_update_callback” were done manually. After I have executed them all, the message appears again that the database needs to be updated. Strange… .

    What else I noticed. Under Tools / Cron Events I can see that three tasks are in the past 52 years. –> https://ibb.co/p01Fshs

    It can’t be the theme or a plugin because I have activated Storefront and deactivated all other unnecessary plugins.

    That actually makes sense you triggering the jobs would also trigger the message.

    That looks a bit broken, yes. But also harmless. I would also run or delete them.

    I just deleted the cronjobs from “52 years ago”.

    But I think if I run update database again now, the job will not run again. Do you have any other ideas what I can do or test?

    So my time was 10:32 | WooCommerce time was 08:32:50. Maybe a problem?

    Hi,

    i have checked the file wp-cron.php. Here i can find “define( ‘DOING_CRON’, true );” So i think this is okay.

    This file wp-config.php does not contain anything with “cron” – the cron jobs are not disabled here either.
