    Hi
A little while ago, I moved a site from one server to another.
I thought it was fine but then is started hanging up. I tracked the problem down to Woocommerce which, when activated caused the problem. I went through all sensible tests – disabling all other plugins etc. Every time Woocommerce was activated, site site hung up and I had to disable it (renamed in CPanel to get the site running again.

I was desperate for a solution because the site had been migrated from a defunct supplier and has thousands of products. I cannot repeat the exercise and a lost database would be catastrophic.

So eventually I found the Action Scheduler Plugin. I activated that and then activated Woocommerce and the site seemed fine but had ‘database update in progress’. As the update proceeded the site reverted to its faulty condition and hung up to the same fault.
Next I went through the process again and tried to delete the schwduled database u[date items – and the site hung up again.

So I went through the process again and the site is currently working again and the ‘database updating’ notice sits there permanently.
I dare not ‘go in there’ again and look at the database updates for fear of crashing it again.

    Here are the versions:

Woocommerce 6.0.0 (I have tried reinstalling and rolling back and no joy)
    WP 5.8.3 security release

    Notes:
    1) I added action scheduler because at times the site would tell me it was missing

    Hi @keithrowley,

As a first step could you provide us the following:

    • System Status: You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.
    • Fatal Error Log: Share a copy of any fatal error log found under WooCommerce > Status > Logs (if available).

Regarding the database update getting stuck you may want to go to WooCommmerce > Status > Scheduled Actions and see if there are any pending hooks there. If yes, you can manually run them.

Make sure you have a full backup in place of your site and database before making any changes. You could consider using a service like Jetpack or installing a plugin like UpdraftPlus. If something goes wrong it’s nice to know that you can restore your site to the previous state.

Also, I’d suggest checking out this Github thread related to issues with the database update not being complete.

    Thanks.

    Hi there,

It’s been a while since we last heard from you, so I’m marking this thread as resolved.

Hopefully, you’ve been able to resolve this, but we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.
