Woocommerce create order – product variation not displaying in search

Following update to WordPress 4.8 and Woocommerce 3.0.8 product variations no longer display correctly in the add products search when creating a new order.

Example:
Product = Loftsails Oxygen
Attributes = 1. Colour 2. Sail Size
Variations = Colour / Blue and Sail Size / 4.6, 5.3, 5.8, 6.3, 6.8, 7.3, 7.8, 6,5 & 9.5

So there are a total of 18 variations.

Using the PRODUCT search in ADD ORDER results in displaying the Product name – Loftsails Oxygen 2017 (#nnnnn) – next variation will display identically but a different variation id. So it is pure guesswork when trying to add a specific colour / sail size variation.
