    Any help much appreciated!

My site was working fine (with WooCommerce) until a couple of days ago when it crashed for no obvious reason, I couldn’t even access the dashboard. Only “There has been a critical error on your site”.

I contacted my hosting provider and they said it was the WooCommerce plugin, and they had deactivated it so I could access the dashboard. I explained that I needed WooCommerce and that simply deactivating it was not a solution, but they said they could not help any further and to contact the plugin provider (so here I am).

I tried activating it again and the same thing happened, but this time with this error screen:

    https://1drv.ms/u/s!AmYgpRNfT8eJgphcVnQQT1ppReEf3g?e=dW9pdZ

I’m not very techy at all so I have no idea what this means. But WooCommerce is essential to my site, so I do need to get it working again.

Most of my plugins are set to auto-update, so I suppose this may have been a factor, but everything was working fine before, and now the whole site crashes as soon as I activate WooCommerce again.

Please can someone help me figure this out?

    Many thanks,

    Mike

    Hey there!

It does sound like there is some type of theme or plugin conflict happening here. On the site, can you disable all plugins and switch to a default theme, and then try activating WooCommerce to see if you have the same issue?

    Thank you.

I tried deactivating all the plugins and switching to 2020 theme, and the site crashed again.

On a staging site it works ok though. Only the WooCommerce product categories widget didn’t work, but the site did not crash.

When I follow the link in the email from WordPress (“Your Site is Experiencing a Technical Issue”), in recovery mode, I can see this error message on the plugin page.

    Many thanks

Thanks for that! Very strange that it works on a staging site, but not the live site. I would recommend next that you completely uninstall WooCommerce, and then install the plugin again – I recommend searching through the Plugins page and installing it from there rather than uploading a .zip file

    All fixed!

    Thank you very much.

I uninstalled and reinstalled WooCommerce as you suggested, and now it seems to work fine. Simple as that ??

    Much appreciated,

    Mike

Great! I’m glad to hear that worked as a fix – and thank you for letting us know!

I’ll mark this thread as resolved now. If you have any further questions, I recommend creating a new thread.
