Woocommerce Checkout Page

Good Day
I have installed the Gift Card plugin (free version).
I am experiencing a problem in that the checkout page defaults toe the cart page because the cart is empty.
Users/visitors will HAVE to access the checkout page to enter the gift card number and expedite the order.
Can someone please help and show me where I am going wrong?
