Hello, I’m having difficulty modifying woocommerce checkout fields I wanted to change “place order” button text to Submit, and also remove “add note to your order” checkbox, as well as removing department and address fields and return to cart link, I have used several plugin including storecustomizer to modify those fields, but after I made those changes and published it nothing seems to work. I also add the following code on function.php but nothing seems to work.

```
I don’t know what might prevent the woocommerce checkout fields from modifying.
please help your responses will be really appreciated. Thank you.

Hi @akpae5,

It sounds like you are using the checkout block on your checkout page, and that’s likely the reason your code isn’t working. Could you try switching to the legacy checkout block or shortcode to see if that resolves the issue?

Thank you for your responses, both the woocommerce checkout shortcode and the woocommerce checkout block there’s no different, I first tried to modify the checkout fields using the checkout page that woocommerce created for me when I installed it, but the modification changes are not applied to the checkout fields. Any solution please?

You can use the Loco translate plugin to change the button text. More info: https://woo.com/document/woocommerce-localization/

remove “add note to your order” checkbox

You can add a custom CSS class and use custom CSS to hide this field.

as well as removing department and address fields and return to cart link

Click on the action field and disable the “Return to cart” link option from the block setting.

Same for the address field too. You can disable them from the block settings.

Alternatively, you can use the classic checkout block or shortcode, then use a plugin like WooCommerce Checkout Field Editor or Checkout Field Editor for WooCommerce to customize checkout fields without using any code.

Hello thank you for your help, those fields have now removed, please is there any possible way to rename the word “order summary” to something else in the checkout block? I have tried to rename it in the block checkout-totals drop-down list, but the changes doesn’t applied to the body of checkout block. Any way to archive this please.

We’re happy to learn you’ve been able to remove the fields as needed! Regarding changing the wording for some of the strings, you can use a plugin like Say What? for such functionality.
