Website I took over for my client who had someone else doing it before, just did updates of all plugins and core. Figured out the woocommerce plugin is making the site crash completely. I removed and reloaded the wc plugin.
Core 5.8.3 (reinstalled in the GUI once as well)
PHP 7.4 upgraded to 8.2 (after site broke)
Tried disabling all other plugins but WC still crashes site.
    Tried different theme.
    scanned for malware.
enabled debugging mode and checked with wc disabled, when its enabled the site times out (see below)

When I enable the woocommerce plugin I get a cloudflare error: Error 524 A timeout occurred.

Any idea how I can diagnose this? I can go back to a previous version of the site but prefer to keep it updated.

  • Hi @canadianllama

When I enable the woocommerce plugin I get a cloudflare error: Error 524 A timeout occurred.

Thanks for sharing all the steps you’ve taken already.

Kindly note that WooCommerce is not breaking the site. Once the cause of the problem is rectified, WooCommerce will work.

The timeout limit in CloudFlare needs to be increased to remove the Error 524 A timeout error. You can follow the troubleshooting steps discussed in this article.

Here is another troubleshooting guide for your reference: https://webpop.io/cloudflare/error-524-timeout/

If none of these seem to help then please share a copy of your site’s System Status in your reply. You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

Hi, thank you for the help, none of those links really helped in my situation, but I just updated to WP 5.9 and enabled WC and now its working, so there must have been something weird going on with WC and 5.8.3

That’s great! Glad to hear it worked for you!

Thanks for sharing the solution with everybody ??

I’ll mark this thread as resolved now. If you have any further questions, I recommend creating a new one.

    Cheers!
