• In doing some testing on a new store I decided to try out building the front page with Woocommerce Blocks. But the product listing blocks, for example Products by Category, Newest Products, etc, do not appear to be using the template files or the hooks that WC uses in the normal loop.

The output in the blocks doesn’t even use the same CSS classes, so making my styling customisations not apply too.

This seems a strange, very basic omission to me. I have customised the layout of the products in the loop quite a bit, so in not honouring that, the Blocks are, to me, completely worthless!

    Hi there @petervandoorn,

Gutenberg blocks function differently than traditional PHP templates. If you have a specific suggestion for the team creating blocks, you are welcome to add your idea to the ideas page here.

That’s not entirely accurate. Yes, on the editing site blocks work differently, but when the page is output to the end user it is built using PHP just like everything else.

I therefore stand by my assertion that it is a strange omission to not use the regular templates and hooks!
