Can MyBookTable and WooCommerce work together, and how?

I would like the publishing specific taxonomy of MyBookTable (Authors, series, genres) but the powerful shop-front themes and category displays of WooCommerce?

Is there a guide to how they work together, and how do “Books” and “Authors” in MyBookTable work with “Products” and “Categories” in WooCommerce?

The reason I ask is that I’m designing a website for a publisher with hundreds of books, and the “Book Table” page (which works well for Authors with a few books) doesn’t cut it as store front for a serious publisher. They expect a slider showcase, “Best sellers” and “New Books” categories, as well as “Also by this Author” on the Book pages.

    Many thanks,
    Graham

    Yes.

We have MyBookTable working along with WooCommerce on https://www.authormedia.com just fine. Since the base versions of both plugins are free I recommend playing with it to make sure that they work together according to your specifications.

Got it, will do. But should I add my books into MyBookTable or in Woocommerce Products?

Or, if I have both plugins activated, will it sort itself?
    Thanks,
    G

i guess what I’m saying is, does Woocommerce treat your concept of “books” as products?

The two plugins don’t have that level of integration. I’m sorry if I misunderstood your question.

They are compatible running together and they both have hooks so you can connect them however you would like. Both those connections are not built in.

    Thanks for clarify that Thomas.

It’s a shame. As far as I can tell, MyBookTable doesn’t offer the design and layout options enough to make a really beautiful bookstore for exploring a large collection of books.

I’m thinking of a homepage like this:

    https://www.mhpbooks.com/

and collections of books like this:

    https://www.mhpbooks.com/books/

    Maybe I’m wrong?

You should be able to do a design like that. MyBookTable creates a custom post type that you (or your webmaster) could work into any kind of design including the ones you showed. We made the plugin very developer friendly to allow for just this sort of thing. You need to know how to use WordPress PHP hooks to use the functionality.

    PHP – [shudder].

    That’s what themes are for!

When you guys start making compatible themes, then my cash money is yours.

    Thanks.
