    Hi

I’ve downloaded the woocomerce APP and testing things so I can get client to EDIT/Add Products in WOocommerce via the App.

I did try the client on editing/adding products via domainname.com.au/wp-admin via Google Chrome but it is very laggy and slow on the Ipad/tablet device for some reason.

Therefore I thought I had to investigate what is out there for people with Shops in Woocommerce WOrdpress and HOW they can edit/add products into their shop easily via Ipad/Tablet/Phone /smaller devices.

It says we have to connect Jetpack plugin (yours) when setting up the App.
It gives me a choice of either “ADD SITE” OR via WordPress.com

As my client site is NOT designed in WordPress.com software, but used as separate WordPress installation and website designed around that and hosted on different server, I thought maybe I cannot use that option.

Is the wordpress.com option in that setting ONLY for websites hosted on that platform ?

What does Jetpack do and HOW does it link with the Woocommerce app ? I’m bit confused about that ?

Is there any documentation with regards to this setup and so I can read more about it to understand please ?

ALSO will this Woocommerce app then do what I require with regards to WOocommerce editing products etc ?

    Thanks
    Kristin

    Hi @kristinubute

The WooCommerce app uses Jetpack to communicate with your website over the xmlrpc.php file included in WordPress. In turn, we use our infrastructure on WordPress.com to facilitate this connection. Consequently, even if your site is hosted elsewhere, we use WordPress.com to communicate with your site.

    We have an explanation here:

    https://jetpack.com/blog/why-wordpress-account-jetpack/

    There are installation instructions here:

    https://woocommerce.com/document/jetpack-setup-instructions-for-the-woocommerce-mobile-app/

Once installed, you should be able to edit and add products in the WooCommerce mobile app.

    HI

    Thanks for your reply.

Do I need a WordPress.com account for myself that I can use as Web Developer (for several clients if I want to link more than 1 client like this?) , OR do I need to create it for the client email address ? Does it matter ?

So by the sounds of it, even if the WordPress is hosted elsewhere, we just create a WordPress.com account which is communicating between Jetpack and WordPress directly.

Does the Woocommerce App also allow me to edit/add products AND edit other pages within WordPress OR its just for Woocommerce products etc ?

    Thanks

    Hi @kristinubute

    Regarding your questions:

Do I need a WordPress.com account for myself that I can use as Web Developer (for several clients if I want to link more than 1 client like this?) , OR do I need to create it for the client email address ? Does it matter ?

You can have a developer account with multiple sites activated under it, but if you are working for a client, the best process is log in with their own account, because billing should be addressed under their account.

So by the sounds of it, even if the WordPress is hosted elsewhere, we just create a WordPress.com account which is communicating between Jetpack and WordPress directly.

Yes, exactly. You can create your WordPress.com account here:

    * https://wordpress.com/start/jetpack/

Does the Woocommerce App also allow me to edit/add products AND edit other pages within WordPress OR it’s just for Woocommerce products etc ?

No, WooCommerce App allows you to administrate the store only, for site posts and pages and general management, you need the WordPress app.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    My best regards,

    Michelle
