Hey Elliot, sorry for the delay on this!
The Segment Official WordPress plugin follows our ecommerce spec to the letter for WooCommerce and WP Ecommerce, and that + our ability to support it are the reasons we’ve historically recommended choosing it.
It seems like StoreApps have ported their plugin over to follow the spec as well, so it looks like a safer bet now! Their breakdown of the automatic events they collect is still up to date, and we’re not likely to add support for more out of the box (though you can always add them yourself!)
We support our wordpress plugin, but also have to balance that support with our core product — collecting, ingesting, routing, storing, normalizing, transforming, warehousing and forwarding every one of the billions of events we receive each day ??
Most of our users are developers who instrument their events to send to our API manually. Though we’re absolutely committed to supporting our plugin, we’re not WordPress experts.
Since StoreApps is dedicated to WordPress and WooCommerce in particular, for more dedicated wordpress-specific support, using their plugin may be a good choice! We’re thrilled to see that there’s a market for them to provide their plugin for sending data to Segment. We’ll still be happy to help on any integration or API related questions regardless of which plugin you choose ??
Best,
Chris Sperandio
