Woocomerce sending two emails on new order

Hi there,

Just to be sure, these are exact duplicates of the same email, correct? Are the customer order emails also sending twice (i.e. 2 copies of customer order email, and 2 copies of admin new order email — 4 emails total for each order)?

If you install this WP Mail Log plugin and place a test order, do you see all of the emails appear in the log? Do they appear differently, or exactly the same?

Yes total 4 mails are beling sent. 2 for admin and 2 fir customer. I am using wp SMTP email and I have checked this via sent email in my gmail account. It shows total of 4 emails for each order.

So I think it must be a bug generally?

Same issue here. Running WooCommerce 4.9.0 and WP Mail SMTP 2.5.1.

Seeing as this support thread is still getting some visits, and the question “Woocomerce sending two emails on new order” hasn’t been resolved…

Here’s the solution… and it’s NOT WP related, but PayPal ˉ\_(ツ)_/ˉ

Essentially both “IPN” and “PDT” payments are being completed at PayPal (you can see the same in WooCommerce > Orders), hence 2x copies of emails being sent, as PayPal is confirming the payment twice.

Answer in the link above suggests disabling one… but here’s the weird thing. I’ve found this problem to be intermittent. We had a period of a couple of weeks where this happened on every order, but only on some WooCommerce sites, not others. So it’s a bit of a weird one. Definately PayPal and not WP / Woo related.

Thanks for the suggestion, but Im not using Paypal, and still getting 2 order emails with ordinary creditcard payments.
So for me its not Paypal related Im afraid….
