Firstly, I apologize for the delayed response.

I replicated the scenario on my personal site: 1 virtual product amounting to $0, placed an order and paid using Stripe Test Mode, and the status is set to Processing. Furthermore, the stock was reduced.

So if I understand you correctly, the problem is not consistent. Sometimes the order goes through with no problem, other times it’s stuck in processing.

I wasn’t able to reproduce the problem on my site. Could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.? Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

It’s also worth checking if there are any fatal error logs from WooCommerce > Status > Logs and choosing from the drop-down menu the fatal-errors.log option.

– Please send us with a link to one of the products that is having the issue.

– Can you make a test order with one of the product that is not working properly? Once the order is created, please navigate to WooCommerce > System Status > Logs (If any error log is created as well, let us know).

I understand your point, it is tricky to identify the cause of the issue.

By default, WooCommerce Core will make the order status as processing, except those that only contain products which are both?Virtual and Downloadable.

It is recommended in this case to perform a conflict test to help you identify the cause of the issue, it could be a theme or plugin conflict. More information is available on our documentation below:

I understand it is not quick to run a conflict test, and also there is the risk to modify the live site configuration, if you would not like to touch the live site you can create a staging site to run the test, we recommend WP Staging for quickly spinning up a new test site.
