It previously used to work without issue but all of the sudden, Woocomerce is not sending order confirmation (etc.) emails nor does it send order notes to the customer. I also don’t receive a “new order” email when an order is placed.

Here the trouble shooting I have done so far:
    -Updated all plug-ins
-Installed WP mail logging (shows that the emails get sent and doesn’t log an error)
-made sure that the send email from address is the same as the website domain
-Checked if wordpress sends an email if I request to reset the password (it does)
-Checked if my contact form on the website still works (it does)
-Checked if the email goes to spam (it doesn’t)
-Placed test orders with different email addresses (none of them receive any order confirmation or order notes even though “WP Mail Logging” shows that the emails have been sent out).

I’m at a loss. Where do I go from here?

  • Hey @cordvision ,

Thanks for sharing the troubleshooting steps you’ve taking up until this point!

Do you rely on the WooCommerce built-in email settings or are you using an SMTP/Email management plugin to manage your emails?

Since WP Mail Logging shows that an email was successfully sent, but you didn’t receive it, it could indicate an issue with the email settings on your server. Sometimes, WordPress’ default email function doesn’t always play well with certain server settings, and an SMTP plugin may be required.

In that case, if you’re not already using one, can you try using an SMTP provider and see if this helps? However, if you are already using an SMTP provider, can you try an alternative provider and see if that resolves the issue?

The support guide below provides some suggested providers:

I’m currently using the default email function. What indicates to me that it is not a server issue is that it used to work without any issues until recently. Furthermore, I’m running a second wordpress site with woocomerce on the same server and the emails work just fine. If there is nothing else I can try… I will give a dedicated SMTP provider a try.

    Hey @cordvision ,

    Thanks for clarifying!

Email delivery can be tricky and changes to server configurations or updates could be affecting things behind the scenes, and using SMTP here can eliminate any server or configuration issues unique to this setup.

We strongly suggest giving an SMTP provider, like MailPoet, a try. It’s a quick way to rule out email delivery issues and often resolves this specific issue immediately.

If the issue is still not resolved after that, please can you share the following:

    • System Status Report:?you can find this via?WooCommerce?→?Status. Select?Get system report?and then?Copy for Support.
    • Fatal Error Log:?Share a copy of any fatal error log found under?WooCommerce?→?Status?→?Logs

    Cheers

Thank you for all the suggestions. I finally figured out a simple solution. I’m using zoho mail as my email provider. They must have changed some server configuration which prevented my email from going through. I also found out that they make an email plug-in for wordpress. After installing the plug-in, everything works again.

    Hi @cordvision,

Glad to hear it – thanks for letting us know!

I’ll mark this thread as resolved now. If you have any further questions, I recommend creating a new thread.
