    Hi there –

I’m updating to 2.6 from 2.5.5 on my test environment to feel things out before rolling live. Unfortunately, when I upgraded I received this error:
“Update Failed: Could not create directory” (no directory was specified in the error), and then my whole woocommerce plugin folder was deleted.
    test environment:
    Windows 10
    IIS 10.0.10586.0
    PHP 5.5
    WP 4.5.3
    Woo 2.5.5
    Flatsome 2.8.5
(all other plugins were deactivated by me prior to upgrade)
(unfortunately I can’t paste system status log because woo doesn’t exist anymore)

This install has been running for the last 6 months, so I’m assuming it’s not a normal Windows/IIS/etc scenario, since I was able to install and modify woocommerce in the first place.

Based on past experience, this is generally a wp-core error and not a woocommerce one specifically, but I am concerned about losing the entire folder. I of course have backups, but my question relates where do I go from here. What I’m wondering is, is it possible to install 2.6 from “scratch” (since WP thinks it doesn’t exist any more) but not lose my data? I’m not concerned about the integrity of this install specifically, but more charting out an order of operations for when I upgrade the live site.

Ha, spoke too soon! I knew you guys were too smart to leave an upgrade in an unrecoverable failure state.

For anyone else who encounters this (unspecified wp update failure) I did this:
    – Copied the WooCommerce update manually into plugins
    – Activated plugin
    – Ran the Woo data updater
    – Re-activated/mediated plugin conflicts

That was way easier than I had expected! Marking resolved.
