When under the “Configure a List” it won’t let me add a new field into the Display Order. I go to a field with a blank box, enter in a number to position it among my other fields, then click the Update button. After the page refreshes nothing is changed.
I have the s2member plugin and have thousands of access_cap_times meta fields. I tried to exclude them from the menu, which does show it check-marked, but they still show on the configure page. I setup this list when first launching the site and now have several thousand user accounts.

Hi Might be the ” thousands of access_cap_times ” – intro of that weird structure by S2M did kinda break those setting pages – they got too big.

Do you have latest version with an ‘exclude meta keys’ menu option ? Specifically added in v 3.9 because of those “access_cap_times “.
    See https://wpusersplugin.com/4147/exclude-meta-keys-delete/

Go there first and exclude the “wp s2m access cap times”
That will stop all those times coming up as possible fields and the page should become workable again.

Might as well exclude any thing else you know you don’t need as well.

Thanks for getting back so quick. Yes, I do have the latest version and had already followed the “exclude meta keys” process, but it doesn’t remove them from the configure page. I also have quite a few “session tokens” fields which I have tried to exclude also, but they still show up on that page.

HI – that must be really annoying. I cannot replicate problem and only time I’ve seen this before is when there were too many fields. Would you say you have a lot of fields ?

I forgot to also say you mean need to:
(After ‘excluding meta keys’), also go into
‘Fields and nice names’ and for as many fields as you can that show up there, tick the “exclude from reports” button
That should exclude fields that are not currently being configured in a report.

And of course (just checking) you are click “Update field settings”, not “Update overview settings” – they are on the same page which has been annoying me as it means the first one is the default when one hits enter and I’ve lost a few updates that way.

let me know how you please.

Yes, I would say that I have a lot of fields >6500. Though they are almost entirely the S2Member access_cap_times (~4200) and session_tokens (~2300) meta fields.
I did go to the ‘Fields and Nice Names’ page and excluded a number of fields from the reports, and yes they are excluded from the ‘Configure a List’ page, but 6500 checkboxes is a bit labor intensive to do.
Is there a way to clear the list from the ‘Configure a List’ page (maybe it’s cached in DB), then go to the ‘Excluded Meta Keys’ page and make sure the two offending categories are selected, then go back to the list and have it build the available fields with the exclude filter applying from the beginning?
As a last option, would you have a suggested workflow for uninstalling and reinstalling your plugin? Or, would the plugin simply pickup all of the fields again?
    Thanks.

HI – yes sorry i probably didn’t say to ‘reset’ the nicenames after excluding the meta keys to get it to forget about the fields you don’t want.

    – next to the ‘update’ and ‘find fields’ button is a ‘reset and find again’

    – that will delete all saved names (won’t delete your list config) and ‘find’ again – this time ignoring the excluded meta.

IF that doesn’t work enough then as a last resort:

export (see overview and tools) your lists, then RESET all user list options (this reset Button is also on overview screen and dangerously near the update button …. needs to be moved away to avoid tired hasty admins hitting it!).

    Then step through carefully
    exclude meta keys,
    find fields, then
    import lists again.

Success! The sequence you gave was the magic key. (1) Exclude the fields you don’t want, (2) Reset the Nice Names list, (3) reload the Configure a list, (4) Select the desired fields and their order, (5) Rebuild cache for list.

I now can adjust the fields and see the data that I need. Thank you!
