I haven’t found an adequate answer for this on the forums.

All of a sudden, it may have been after upgrading to 2.1, or maybe before, I can’t remember, I log in, and am at the admin panel. No problems. But, when I navigate back to the index, the “edit” function is not given for posts, the “login” function is in the sidebar, where “site admin” used to be after log in. In essence, I am logged out on the index, or individual post pages.

Can anyone help? Problem persists on Firefox, Safari, and IE. Also, I have emptied my cookies, and cache, and no change whatsoever.

    Thanks,
    nail

  • And it will happen exactly like that if:
    a) this is the “link” to the blog:
    https://translucentbeauty.net/blog
    b) although it redirects you here:
    https://rainfallsoneveryone.com/

The edit link usually doesn’t work with this kind of redirects!

    Got it.

I installed something to redirect from my old blog, to the new blog address…and now that I think about it, it has been since I installed that plugin that this has been happening.

Thank you. I hate being a bonehead, but, sometimes, that’s just the way it is!

    Hold on.

Nope. Deactivated plugin on previous site. Removed all redirects.

Logged out of new site. Cleared cookies. Logged into new site. Same issue.

Maybe I am still being boneheaded about this, but, how might I go about fixing this issue. The site (translucentbeauty.net), has an outdated link to the old blog. The new blog is at rainfallsoneveryone.com.

    Thanks.

If at rainfallsoneveryone.com the WP install is in the root and you have to login at rainfallsoneveryone.com/wp-login.php – then I am clueless ??
Just out of curiousity: what happens if you switch to another theme?

    (@nailinmyeye)

Ok. Maybe we are making progress.

    The root is:
    rainfallsoneveryone.translucentbeauty.net

In the WP control panel, the WordPress address is:
    https://rainfallsoneveryone.translucentbeauty.net

    and the blog address is:
    https://rainfallsoneveryone.com

    The login is at:
    https://rainfallsoneveryone.translucentbeauty.net

Is this what you were getting at in your original reply?

I have had absolutely no problems with this setup since I configured it in October. It has only begun displaying this particular behavior in the past few weeks/month. This makes me think it had something to do with either my upgrade, or the install of a particular plugin.

I will check changing the theme right now.

Thank you for all of your help.

    Also,

    If I go to rainfallsoneveryone.translucentbeauty.net,
I remain logged in, as I would expect.

Being installed on a subdirectory must be the cause of this?

But, then why has it only begun displaying this in the past few weeks, and not since I set up the current configuration?

And, just to be thorough, changing the theme does not change the situation.

    Fixed it.

A problem with my admin panel for my domain, and my WP setup. All fixed.

    Thanks for all the help!

I’m having the same issue, seems almost like the login cookie doesn’t maintain on the home page? Same thing for me, I can click login again, and voila, I’m back on the dashboard as the user I’d just logged in as… IE works just fine.

nailinmyeye, can you share what you did to fix? Curious to me why this only affects Firefox… FYI, I use 1and1.com for domain services.
