Won't save settings, won't create drop-in-area

Hi, I read some reviews and it says that this plugin is easy to use, so perhaps I’m doing something wrong.
Plugin installs fine, and the settings show up. But anything I enter for settings, then save, then click again on the plugin settings, it has forgotten my settings. It also doesn’t create a “drop-in-area” for the content in Appearance>Widgets.
