won't save app id or app secret

  • ok I had everything working in this plugin except the social publisher, i could not get that to work. there was no connect to facebook in the edit profile like it said there should be. so i uninstalled the plugin and reinstalled it but now when I go and type my id and secret and click save it just refreshes the page and it has blank boxes again. Also under the plugin settings all it shows is General, Like Button, Send Button, and Follow Button. Nothing else so I can’t even look at the debugger to see whats going on.

    The Facebook plugin for WordPress attempts to verify your supplied app id and app secret with Facebook’s servers and set up future server-to-server communication. Some webmasters have reported problems saving app id and app secret due to their server software’s inability to talk to Facebook’s servers over HTTPS.

    Well it worked before I uninstalled it and nothing has changed on my server. So i’m wondering why it wouldn’t work the second time around, granted both WP and the plugin have been updated since the first time I did it. So is there a way to troubleshoot this to see if it is a problem with my server?

    I downloaded a different plugin and it said Able to access facebook using Curl. That plugin said one of the requirements was to be able to communicate to facebook using HTTPS which is what your plugin requires but that plugin worked. So I’m still not sure what else to do.
