• I had imported my entire blog from Blogger to WordPress a while back and did nothing with it; I continued to post in Blogger. I recently wanted to actually get the WordPress up and running, so I cleared everything off to start from scratch. It will not let me re-import from the same blogspot again – even though my WordPress is completely empty, it says that the import was completed successfully. Any help for me?

  • I solved this issue by logging into phpMyAdmin and looking at the ‘options’ table.

Any entry which starts Bie needs to be deleted (there are normally 3).

Running the plugin a second time will behave as new.

Tim, thanks so much! I’m looking at my dashboard and not seeing an ‘options’ table. I’m reeeeeeally inexperienced with WordPress (as though that’s not obvious). Where should I be looking? I have no idea if it matters or not, but SiteGround does my hosting.

You’ve probably got a solution to this by now, but for anyone else having this issue, if you want to run the importer again, you can use a wordpress database reset plugin. This will completely empty your database as if it was a new install, then the plugin will run again. Note though, it won’t delete images or documents imported into the media library, so running the import again will re-import the images again, and wordpress will rename the new images, so you’ll have two versions of the same image on your server. So before you run the plugin again, log in to your cPanel or via FTP and delete the contents of your uploads folder after you reset the database.
