Whenever I paste the short code on a page – the public can no longer view. If I remove the short code, then the page, without links, is viewable by the public. Is there something I’m missing here?

That is a very odd behavior. Nothing in SLD has anything to do with page permissions. Can you provide a list of other plugins you have installed in your WordPress? Also paste the short code you are using.

    Thanks

Yes it is very odd behavior. So I did some testing by pasting in single code. It worked fine. I then extended the code to: [qcopd-directory mode=”all” column=”3″ style=”simple”] that worked fine also.

Then I started adding [orderby=”date” order=”DESC”] that worked once.

Then I added: [enable_embedding=”false”] and that’s when I got the public denied access to the page.

I changed the false to true, still didn’t work.

Now here’s the funny part. I removed the [enable_embedding=”false”], it didn’t work!

    I removed the [orderby=”date” order=”DESC”] it worked.

I have tried this at least 3 times and all 3 times it repeated this “odd” behavior.

    thanks

    Hi Donna,

OK, seems like your WordPress installation has something unique that is causing the issue with Embed feature. One thing you can check – SLD creates a page called Embed Link that is required for embedding to work. Can you go to Pages and see if that page is Published and Visibility Public?

    Thanks

Nope, didn’t work. The embed page is published and visibility is set to public.

    Again, I tested again.

    I added [orderby=”date” order=”DESC”], again it worked.

Then added the embed phrase – got an error that I don’t have permission to the page.

And agin, I deleted the embed code – tried it again – same error message. So I don’t see why it didn’t work when I deleted the code when it worked when I added the code. It seems that when I added the order by and order code, it’s fine but when I delete the embed code and leave the orderby and order desc code, it doesn’t work.

So I delete order DESC, it works … go figure.

Very very weird. So I just don’t use orderby and order desc and the embed code.

I had 2 screen shots but couldn’t see how to add them to this forum.

Agreed. Please paste the exact and full shortcode when it does not work in your install.

Feel free to email us the screenshots at [email protected]

    Thanks

    Here’s the code: [qcopd-directory mode=”all” column=”2″ style=”simple” orderby=”date” order=”DESC” enable_embedding=”false”]

    and sometimes: [qcopd-directory mode=”all” column=”2″ style=”simple” orderby=”date” order=”DESC”]

I will email you the screenshots.

Update: I have emailed the screenshots as well as screenshots of installed plug-ins. Problem still exists.

We could not duplicate the issue just with plugin names. Probably some plugin settings are involved too. Try disabling the WordPress Access Control plugin. It had not been updated in 3 years. Maybe that is causing the issue. But it seems impossible to duplicate without your exact system. Apologies for the inconveniences.

    Thanks
