With WP Stateless Toolset ignores image size settigns

My website has 20k+ images so storing images in Cloud made sense and WP Stateless made it easy. But now all images are in Google Cloud I find that when I set images size in Toolset the settings are ignored and the max size (in my case max 800×800) is shown in preview and in live site. Any experience/suggestions?? There is a work around by setting max size in CSS (sorry, spelled CCS below in links) but this defies the purpose: the larges size would be downloaded and then resized…..
