This is a very interesting plugin. I really like the user profile integration here. However, it does seem to duplicate some functionality of other plugins.

Adding a form builder is good, but perhaps too much feature. The only reason I say this is that it is not uncommon for developers to use a high-end form builder plugin to build forms (Gravity Forms, Formidable Pro, CF7), adding your form builder in this plugin somewhat makes it redundant. Brajesh Singh has done a similar plugin call BuddyBlog (https://buddydev.com/plugins/buddyblog/), but is also tied to an additional front-end posting plugin he developed.

What do you think about modifying your plugin so that instead of using an included form builder, it focuses instead on the aspects of BP Profile integration for post creation, post management, and post editing – while making it compatible with other form builder plugins?

Duplicating functionality means you have to focus on keeping your form builder well-maintained when in purpose, your plugin is seems really about getting solid BP profile integration for post management.

Before you respond – It seems I’ve put my foot in my mouth…!

I wasn’t aware that BuddyForms was a separate form builder plugin that you made and now I understand that your plugin here is an extension to that product. It all makes more sense now.

Though, to that end, I think there is still room for a plugin that handles post management integration into BP profiles that is agnostic to some of the more popular form builders out there.

    Hi Prometheus Fire,

thanks for your honest feedback, I like to give you a deeper explanation, why we build BuddyForms.

The decision to create a form builder was not easy. First we wanted to build something on top of an existing form builder. But in the end we found out, that non of them was developed for the purpose of creating and editing in its first place and no one did the job as we want it to work.

With BuddyForms we focus 100% on the post stuff and less on the form in general, and we want it to be a tool for BuddyPress. This is our main goal.

We where looking for a tool to make the user of a BuddyPress installation become more easy integrated into the posting process, dosen’t matter what kind of posting

In the next days and weeks we will publish some more extensions for groups and other BuddyPress related publishings. All extensions are build on the BuddyForms form builder.

We decided to split the plugin into smaller modules instead of one big blooded plugin. ??

With BuddyForms we want to have a tool where we can bring custom post type related plugins easily into BuddyPress and collect the needed data in individual forms.

It’s all about user generated content and the idea that there are already many plugins, which could be easily integrated into BuddyPress.

I hope I could give you an idea, I will write a detailed documentation with howtos for the different cases in the nearest time.

If you have any other question, please let me know.

It is great to have this for BuddyPress!
