With Changes To Pricing It Could Be Perfect
-
I already optimise all images with a photoshop batch action prior to import. The gains i will get from image optimisation are therefore much more limited – around 2% average.
If you already optimise images you will do much better from the 25mb free monthly allowance than the 100/150/whatever file number allowance on other similar plug ins.
The ‘grinds my gears’ aspects of it are thus:-
1) A jump from 25mb free to 1gb $6 per month. Doesn’t sound much $ but all these monthly subs add up. If there was a $20 limited annual licence (e.g. no support, limited max file size/file saving whatever) aimed at people like me who know what they are doing and gain limited benefit, i would pay it. I won’t pay 75$ a year, I’ll cope with free so it’s get some money from me, or no money.
2) Lack of honesty/transparency in that images already deemed to be optimised with no further reduction possible count towards your allowance. That applies to at least half of my images, so you are in affect charging me to inspect the file, not improve it. In the context of a bulk process, the files that actually need optimising could all be done for the $5 deal, but i’d have to buy the $20 pack. I’m one of those miserable gits who therefore won’t buy it on principle.
…..
so the outcome of both is that you get no $ from me, when you could have got some.
all that said, much prefer it to Smush
