Wish I could give more stars, but…

So far I am seriously unimpressed. UM doesn’t seem to work with any theme I have chosen, including Twenty Fifteen, Twenty Sixteen or Twenty Seventeen (the ones it’s SUPPOSED to work with). I couldn’t get it to work with 1.0 (or whatever the previous version was) and it doesn’t work with 2.0. Currently I can’t test the profile forms to see if they work because the damn plugin won’t let registered users login and the profile forms don’t appear on the pages they are supposed to. My needs here are extremely simple. I only need a registration form, a login form, a profile form and a profile search form, yet only the registration form works. The rest of the stupid plugin doesn’t work.

And then there are the updates. Trying to build a site around updates is like trying to hit a moving target. I don’t even have a baseline to refer to. I’ve been trying to get these issues with UM resolved for 7 months, so for more than half a year I have had a non-working website. The UM developers’ idea of tech support, which is a user forum, sucks. I have put in several requests for troubleshooting advice and all I get is “try deactivating other plugins” or “Are you using the latest version?” before people drop it. But as for plugin conflicts, this is the only plugin I have activated and when I deactivate it, I have no login protocol to the front end of the site. Initially I had a different issue, and several months after I asked for assistance, someone else reported the same problem I had been having and they got an answer. That answer worked in resolving that particular issue, but I had to wait 3 months to get it. At this rate I’ll be in an old folks’ home before I can get my site to work.

Nothing I have experienced with UM makes me want to purchase the product. I just don’t know of a better plugin that offers what I need. I will gladly switch to something that actually works if anyone can honestly recommend one. My patience is running thin.
