• hi all,
I’m building a woo commerce shop based on wines.
What should be the best way to manage the products?
Every wine has different formats and vintages, do you think that I should create a new product every time or handle it with variations?
In I use variations, can I show all the products (included different variations) in one single table?
    thanks!

There’s no right answer, but it’s an important decision. If by format you mean size, as in split, bottle, magnum; then that certainly seems appropriate for variations. If you mean the different handling from the same pressing – reserves and such, those seem like different products to me. I’m not so sure for vintages. The same wine from year to year can be a very different product. But think about user experience too. It’s easier to pick a vintage variation off the same product than get all products of a particular wine.

Just my personal thoughts. I’m not a wine expert nor a WC expert. It’s more important to consider carefully for end users than what I might think.

Whatever organization you decide upon, there’s a way to get a specific group of whatever in one table. It may require a custom template to do so, but there will be a way some how.
