I have installed latest XAMPP and latest WordPress on my PC Windows7: localhost etc.

What I would like to do is: backup my live site to my pc using plugin, work on it and then restore it on my live site again.

Idea is: install your plugin on the live site and localhost WP as well, then make a backup of my live site WP, then ftp everything to my pc and restore everything using your plugin.

    Is this possible? Any ideas?

I did try different plugins, but so far I had no luck with any of them for different reasons. (time out, no restore feature etc.)

    TIA

Hi Tia, yes, XCloner should be able to do this. Please the check video i’ve posted on the main page, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9iWpPyG1EE&t=1s , it shows how i’ve created a live site backup and restored it to a localhost server.

One note in your case if you are unable to make your localhost server have a public url, is to simply download the backup archive and upload it in the same directory with the restore script we provide on the Restore Page, then simply use the localhost url you have there when asked for the restore script url and skipping the second step regarding backup transfer, you can just go on to the next step to Restore the backup archive files.

Thank you very much Ovidiu, I will try. The “only” problem I can see is “unable to make your localhost server have a public URL” lol I am very new to this localhost.
If you can give me ANY tip how I would really appreciate.
    TIA

Simply follow my previous advice and skip that step for now, download the backup manually to the local server

Update: I had to delete everything on my local pc as I was running Sandbox and it made a complete mess with everything. No problem I just installed AMPPS and WP and now all works perfect.

I will read and check some info about your plugin and will dive into it ASAP.

    Will report later.
